Three people in a stolen car drove up a popular Christchurch walking track to avoid being caught, police say.
The car was chased by police in the city on Wednesday morning, a police spokeswoman said. The pursuit ended when it was driven up the Rapaki track, in the Port Hills.
Two people had been arrested, the spokeswoman said. Police were searching for another.
It was unclear how far the car made it up the track, which is popular among walkers.
A witness said the trio covered their faces as passersby took photos of the car as it made its way up the track.
