The Co-operative Bank has appointed David Cunningham as the bank’s chief executive, subject to regulatory approval.
Cunningham has been a member of the bank’s leadership team since 2012 in the role of general manager customer banking, and has worked in a variety of leadership roles in the banking sector since 1990.
He replaces Bruce McLachlan, who left the bank on March 31, 2017, to take up the role of chief executive of Fisher Funds.
Chairman Steven Fyfe said Cunningham had been an integral member of the leadership team that developed and delivered the bank’s strategy.
“As a customer-owned bank which exists solely for the benefit of its 157,000 customers, we are well positioned to continue our growth,” he said.
