Two 14-year-olds have been charged with aggravated robbery following a service-station ram raid in west Auckland.
Police are now looking for two more people over the early-morning robbery at the Gull on Henderson Valley Rd.
A stolen Subaru legacy and a stolen Mazda entered the forecourt on April 27 at about 2am, Detective Sergeant Mike Clubb says.
“The Mazda was driven through the glass doors of the store,” he said.
“At this point the employee who was working the night shift locked himself in a safe room and called police.”
Clubb said the employee was shaken but not hurt by the incident as three people ran into the shop and stole cigarettes and a till, while a fourth waited in a vehicle.
The offenders then drove off towards Parrs Cross Rd.
Clubb said police “flooded the area” and the stolen vehicles were located on Denver Ave in Sunnyvale.
“Police officers continued making enquiries and later in the morning two young men, both aged 14 years old, were arrested on Sunnyside Road,” he said.
“A search was then carried out at a residential property and police found cigarettes and the till taken in the robbery.”
The pair were to appear in the Waitakere Youth Court, both charged with aggravated robbery and unlawfully getting into a motor vehicle.
The Mazda had “just been stolen” from Ranui and the Subaru from Glen Eden, Clubb said.
The police were still looking for two other people in relation to the ram raid.
