Police are warning sports clubs to be vigilant as they investigate a spate of Canterbury burglaries.
The clubrooms for the Papanui Tigers and Hornby Panthers Rugby league clubs, the Waihora Rugby Club and the Tai Tapu Golf Club have been broken into in the last month. The latter two are both located in Rhodes Domain, Tai Tapu.
Senior Sergeant Stephen McDaniel said the offenders had targeted alcohol.
“These events have typically occurred at the end of the working week when the facilities have increased their alcohol stocks for the weekend’s sales.
“Positive leads are being followed, however police will be increasing patrols around these facilities.”
Anyone who notices suspicious private sales of cheap alcohol, or other suspicious activity, is asked to call their local police station or the confidential CrimeStoppers hotline on 0800 555 111.
