Olympic footballer Meikayla Moore, taekwondo competitor Andrea Kilday and rower James Lassche will help lead warm-ups at Jennian Homes Mother’s Day Fun Run and Walk at Long Bay.
But you don’t have to be an Olympian to take part in the fun event, which aims to improve the heart health of women by supporting the Heart Foundation for Women campaign.
The 5km run or walk will be held at Long Bay Reserve from 8am on Mother’s Day, May 14. Long Bay is one of 23 locations around the country for the annual event.
More than 5000 people nationwide are already registered, including 42 Olympians, thanks to Jennian Homes’ sponsorship of the New Zealand Olympic Committee before last year’s games in Rio de Janeiro.

Like all participants, the Olympians will be decked out in a specialty shirt, designed by iconic Kiwi artist Dick Frizzell.
Heart disease is the number one cause of death for women in New Zealand, claiming the lives of more than 50 women each week.
Jennian Homes is working with the Heart Foundation to reduce this alarming statistic, and will be giving $20,000 to the charity to support women’s heart health, as a result of the Mother’s Day events.
Participants who enter this year’s event will also go in the draw to win part of a $25,000 prize pool.
