A fire that engulfed a house in Wainuiomata, north of Wellington, will be investigated by specialists.
The blaze at 40 Sunny Grove in the Hutt Valley began shortly after 7pm on Thursday.
Four appliances from around the region attended the scene, but could not stop the roof from collapsing.
It was extinguished around 9pm, and fire service communications shift supervisor Murray Dunbar said there were no reported injuries.
“We haven’t established what exactly happened, but a specialist NZ Fire Service investigator has been called and will investigate,” Dunbar said.
Earlier police received reports of gunshots in the area, but a spokesman confirmed it was the sound of windows exploding.
