Hospice house relocated in preparation for sale

Nearly four years after construction got underway, a house built by students for a charity is almost ready to be sold.

UCOL carpentry students began construction on the 111 square metre relocatable house in 2013.

This week, it was put on the back of a truck and moved to the Wescombe Grove development in Feilding.

It will now be put up for sale as a fundraiser for Arohanui Hospice.

The Palmerston North based hospice will use the sale to help fund its annual shortfall of $2.5 million.

Hospice strategy and operations director Louise Curtis said the aim was to have the house ready to go on the market by early May.

It was not yet decided how the house will be sold.

The section it was moved to needed landscaping, a deck and garage built, a driveway laid and plumbing connected.

The house has four bedrooms, two bathrooms, a separate laundry, an open plan living and dining area, and a standalone double garage.

“We are thrilled to have secured the site and have work commence on this project,” Curtis said previously.

Humphries Construction and Central House Movers assisted with relocating the house.

Any interest in the house can be directed to Curtis on 06 3502241.
