An altercation at a Hamilton breakfast table ended with one flatmate stabbed in the back with a pair of scissors.
Police were called to a home in the suburb of Chartwell at 9am on Wednesday after reports of a stabbing.
At the property they found a 23-year-old man with a stab wound to the lower back.
He had allegedly been stabbed by a pair of scissors at the hands of one of his flatmates, Waikato police Senior Sergeant Greg Foster said.
“He’s being treated by ambulance at the scene.”
The man was believed to have suffered moderate injuries.
Police arrested a 25-year-old woman, who also lived at the property, and were not seeking anyone else, Foster said.
Foster said the stabbing was allegedly over a disagreement during breakfast.
“Other people living at the address called it in.”
Two other flatmates were also present at the scene, which would be talked to by police. Police had also recovered the scissors.
