Kitchen cutlery and a leather strap nicknamed ‘The Rodney’ are weapons alleged to have been used by a woman charged with assaulting two children.
On Tuesday, Nicole Potroz appeared in the Hawera District Court, where she faces nine charges of child assault.
Court documents show the Midhirst woman is alleged to have assaulted two children, aged 7 and 8, between May 1 2016 and April 4 2017.
Along with her fists, the 26-year-old is accused of using a belt, wooden spoon, spatula and a leather strap referred to as ‘The Rodney’ during the assaults.
Potroz entered no plea to the charges and made an application for legal aid.
She will reappear in court on May 16.
