Baseball bat-wielding thieves have hit a Christchurch dairy, but instead of taking the usual cash or cigarettes, they were after ice cream.
A police spokesman said officers were called to the Division Street Dairy in Riccarton about 9pm on Thursday.
“It was reported to police that four males entered the dairy with baseball bats and they took a basket of ice creams.”
The spokesman said no-one was hurt in the incident.
“The owners did the right thing. They shut the shop and called police.”
Police are assessing security camera images and investigating.
