A man arrested after armed police attended a domestic incident over Easter weekend has been denied bail.
On April 14, Waitara man Tenapi Crean was taken into custody after allegations were made that he had seriously assaulted his former partner while having a sawn-off shotgun in his possession.
On Thursday, Crean appeared in the New Plymouth District Court, where he faces charges of injures with intent to injure, male assaults female, threats to kill, breaching a protection order and the possession, and presentation of, a firearm.
He has yet to plead to any of the charges.
Lawyer Megan Boyd applied for Crean’s release from custody on bail, which was opposed by police.
Judge Chris Sygrove declined the application and Crean was further remanded into custody to reappear on May 11.
