A pre-school teacher force-fed and smacked her pupils, washed a child’s mouth out with soap and taped another child’s mouth shut, a court has been told.
The trial of Lynn Euphemia Abraham, 59, began on Monday at the Auckland District Court.
Abraham has denied 11 charges of assault against children, including allegedly smacking five children on their hands, bottoms or thighs.
The Onehunga woman is also accused of force-feeding three children.

Court documents allege the offending occurred between 2011 and 2016.
The early childcare centre and the owner of the company have been granted interim name suppression, pending a decision by Judge June Jelas on Tuesday morning.
The trial is set down for five days.
