A man is in custody after armed police were called to a Taranaki address following a domestic assault involving a shotgun.
A police media spokeswoman said officers arrived at a house on Tuahu Pl in Waitara about 11.30am.
“A man has assaulted a female at the address. The victim’s mother called police saying he had a firearm,” she said.
She said the armed offenders squad were alerted however the man was taken into custody without incident.
The shotgun was not used, but it was presented during the altercation. It had been recovered by police following the man’s arrest, she said.
It is likely the man will face charges in connection with the call-out.
